Despite the star power of Jennifer Lopez and the talent of director Niki Caro, “The Mother” disappoints as a forgettable and derivative action thriller. The poorly lit scenes and rough editing add to the overall disappointment, making it difficult to follow the action. Although Lopez delivers a committed performance, the script lets her down, and the supporting cast has little to work with.
